Populations

Type Locality

Lower Aloumbé river, Northern Gabon.

Distribution

Currently only known from the 3 locations - lower Aloumbé River drainage, Northern Gabon.
Replaced to the east by A.flavocyaneum.

Habitat

Small forest streams less than a metre wide. Bottom - sand/rock with dead leaves & roots where the fish hide.
Sympatric sp. include an unknown (undescribed) Aphyosemion sp.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Head intense orange with black lower lip, flanks purplish/blue with 2 dark lateral stripes.Tip of dorsal fin & caudal points (top & bottom) orange/red.

Breeding Notes

Clean, clear water is required.

Diameter of Egg 1·3 mm.
